Anniversary...

Today is the first anniversary of me stopping smoking. The circumstances were
odd, as was explained here. I haven't touched a cigarette since, or at the risk of tempting fate, wanted to. I've just put on two stones instead. I say that - I've being trying to lose some of the additional weight and a few of the extra pounds have been shedded - helped by lots of gym work. I can now be insured as a non-smoker too. Cartoon below nicked from Earl's quiz...

Happy Anniversary indeed, White Rabbit!!
Giving up smoking is something to be hugely proud of .. as is losing weight.
I myself after 17 years at home went back to work last year and lost 2 stone in six months .. no gym fees involved .. or morphine .. yay !
Hope you are celebrating accordingly..:O))

Good for you!!! And happy anniversary!

I remember the first time I heard cigarets referred to as "fags", in a punk song. The lyrics were, "saw you in a mac, kissing a man, smoking a fag, kissing a man". I wrote to my British penpal to please explain what 'mac' and 'fag' meant. Now i know: Raincoat and cigaret.

Oh, those oral fixations... First cigs, then food, what's next - thumb?

Congratulations for staying away from that nasty habit for a year. Keep it up! ;-)

Thanks to all for kind comments.

Steph - welcome to my humble blog. Unfortunately I already tried the working tactic.

Little Flower/Savannah - So you are ex-smokers too... Go for it LF - it isn't so hard and gets easier.

DHG - Thankies. JoJo - I don't know the origin of fag for cigarette. Mac is short for Mackintosh - a manufacturer of raincoats. Okay googling tells me that fag probably originates from faggot - as in kindling - wood for burning.

Catchy - Erm.... What next for oral fixations? What kind of question is that? :-O

Congrats,

It is going on four years for me. We should get a token or something for every year.

It's a good feeling, isn't it? The last time I bought a pack of Winstons, I put up a rambling post on the Dog Report about how excited I was about Obama's inauguration coming on MLK Jr. weekend. I am a musician. However I used to fancy myself as a somewhat able writer. I have found that without my precious cigarettes, I have lost my mojo for writing. Oh well, 'twas no great shakes. But a musician should be able to write program notes, musician's corner, etc. Thankfully, I am still able to play my music without the wretched, little poison.

Life is a beautiful choice.

Congratulations! One year is pretty damn great. I am a casual smoker. I only smoke when I drink once in awhile. I threw two packs away the other day, because it was making my asthma much worse (of course).

Have a great weekend,
